Affiliate disclosure
What “affiliate” means here
An affiliate link is a tracked URL to a retailer, brand, or software company. When you purchase (or sometimes when you sign up) after using that link, the company may pay us a commission under their program rules.
Where you will see notices
- Sitewide footer on every page
- Before the first offer module on any page that includes affiliate recommendations or comparison tables
- Near owned products when a page sells a Year One Home SKU and also mentions third-party links
Owned products vs affiliate offers
Year One Home sells digital tools (for example a free Notion lite template, a paid Notion OS, a First-30 PDF, and a Sheets warranty log). When we link to those, we are selling our own product. Affiliate modules for tools, filters, detectors, or apps are third-party relationships and will be marked clearly.
Editorial approach
We aim for calm, practical guidance for first-year homeowners. Affiliate relationships do not change safety priorities. We do not invent testimonials, fake rankings, or urgency coupons to push clicks. Rankings and “recommended gear” sections will note affiliate relationships when they appear.
Amazon and other networks
When Amazon Associates or other network links are active, we will use the disclosure language required by that program (for example, “As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases”) near relevant modules, in addition to this page.
No extra cost to you
Using an affiliate link does not increase the price you pay. Commissions come from the merchant’s marketing budget under their terms.
